Love the Blue Canoes!
Day two of sunshine out back, and now I’m just showing off— two sitting out days in a row! Had to miss golf w David for a commitment, but not bad, and outings to come. Also: Remember, when you read a story, or just about any published item, those words are very carefully selected, and there is a neat geometry there, or at least a careful architecture (or sometimes a strange mix of editor and author, but that’s beyond me…though I respect the strange). And I read some neat stories: Incl one very brief one called Thank You For The Light that I’d been waiting months to read and was as good as I’d hope, then one called Why Don’t You Dance that the movie Everything Must Go dramatizes a scene from (and builds from there)— both stories smack like hammers on a bumper.
And that raven wanted the last of my 2012 salmon. It was a waiting game! I’ll enjoy these days while they’re here!
Sethwms: Yup, for a couple more weeks anyway— if it’s sunny will be at the Oar House beach tomorrow for after work outing (might end up just me fishing!)— feel free to stop by!

Some last minute surfperch fishing at Mission Beach— let me know if you need tips to just get a perch— easy peasy and always fun to be out in the ocean. My skills brought no bass or croakers (or is it these croakers? or these? maybe time will tell— would need more summer anyway) or bonitos (I’m told those bonitos are mostly in the bay), but still pretty damn great.
Now just waiting for some dollies here in Juneau— I’ve heard rumors!

I’ll never forget reading “Feathers” (by Raymond Carver)— what a great story.
Perch fishing (I think I can dial up to bass or bonito— would be cool) in the Coronado surf— nice!
If you are in Juneau and ever get a chance to hear Bob Banghart, Dave Hunsaker and/or Patrick Murphy play, take it. I saw them play music (under the name “The Dark Ages”— nice!) for Haxan for the “Not-So-Silent” film series last weekend, and they were so terrific— made the movie so great. And Haxan on its own was a trip and had many facets.
So great— very lucky— to visit Fairbanks— a wonderful town— had a great time meeting people and enjoying the and food and drink and town, and hopefully provided some useful info and resources. And did you know Karl Kassel is on the Assembly? Thanks so much, Janet!

New historical 1990-2000 population data by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin are now available on our Web site: http://laborstats.alaska.gov/pop/popest.htm. Click on “Historical Data: Alaska Statewide” and “Historical Data: Boroughs/Census Areas.” These data are intercensal population estimates, which take into account information from both the 1990 and 2000 Censuses to improve the time series of annual numbers back to 1990.

My water’s been out a couple days— that meant some inconvenience and not feeling great, but also a morning swim, which turned really nice once I got up and there (no workout, just a swim) (and was lucky got a lane with all the “early birds” (mostly seniors)), and then tonight my landlord (feeling terrible about it all— he saw me at the pool!) took me in for a meal of some rockfish someone gave him yesterday— he was on the phone with a builder so I got to cook— butter lemon salt pepper 350 degrees can’t go wrong— and a wine from a grape I’d never even heard of— and hearing him talk about places I haven’t been or known about— and took a shower there rather than at the pool! A good cool shower that can feel great afterward…maybe I’m a little too glad, but I’m feeling glad. And glad about this upcoming summer in Southcentral, and next week to Fairbanks and CA.
